History of Town Hotel/Hamilton
« on: Sunday 19 February 06 02:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Does any know what was originally on the site of the Town Hotel (formerly known as the Commercial Hotel) in Townhead St, Hamilton? There was a residence or farm on that site in which my forebears resided.

I am most interested to know what that locality in Hamilton was originally called. Any help would be most greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Rodeo

You will find detailed Hamilton maps at the following site. The 1819 John Wood map is very useful and shows the street prior to the Commercial Inn and residents names.  Street then called Castle Street.  The 1858 Ordnance Survey (large scale Town Plan) shows a later view of the Street.
