Walter John EARL (m.Dec 1908)
« on: Sunday 19 February 06 09:49 GMT (UK) »
My grandfather, Walter John EARL (1884-1977) was married twice - I'm an indirect product of his second marriage (1928) to Emmeline Ivy Woodhouse. His marriage certificate states he was a "widower", but we don't know much about his first marriage. There's a chap of the same name married in the Basford district in the Oct-Dec 1908 register volume 7b p.431 - it's possible he could have strayed ovver t'brook to Nottinghamshire! - meaning his wife was either Rose Pitt or Gertrude Towers. Our understanding is that his first marriage produced Wilfred (b.1909?) and Mary (b.?), both of whom might still be alive.

Is anyone able to tell me any more about any of this?

(I'm posting the same question to the Nottinghamshire section)

Jill,
Thanks, but yes, I'd seen that one - though I may be putting 2 and 2 together to make 5! I guess the only way to get the parents' names is to shell out for a copy of the birth certificate, right?
Cheers,
Brian
