Agree with that David,

Looks like Almzie only ever made one post, but it may be interesting to know what scattletrap's connection is?

Just realised, it's not Scattletrap's but  141291's pic who also hasn't been active on site for nine years.

Thanks for the replies, hadn't realised the op hadn't been active for such a long time, would love to have made contact (keeping fingers crossed), love to know more about the history of the bench too!

Love seeing the 'then' and 'now' pictures. :)

I will send a PM to the original poster on the off chance that they are still around. It doesn't look promising though I'm afraid as they haven't been online in such a long time.

Sarax,  If the original poster is still around they may be able to provide a clearer scan of the coat of arms. Are you hoping to return a coat of arms too?

PS. You might need to replace your replacement windows.  ;)  ;D

Best I can do, it's no use sharpening (Wouldn't give any more detail)

Looks good Denn, but not enough detail for sarax to have a repro made ....  :( Unless there is another way to find out more about the plaque? Local history society perhaps?

Yes, I had only tried to give enough so that hopefully someone may recognise it. With some luck it may be possible to find out something about the plaque; I've searched some local place names and family names but nothing as yet.

Thanks for the clearer image Denn, not enough detail, but clearer non the less :) I'm looking into local history societies etc. to see if anyone may have more info. And yes Ruskie, I'd love to be able to return the coat of arms back above the doorway! Thanks for sending the pm's, fingers crossed they might reply.

Attached pictures of the bench for anyone interested - Also recent pictures can be found on my website - http://www.brynogarms.co.uk/

p.s. what's up with my windows?  :o ;D

The bench is wonderful sarax! It is amazing that it still survives!

Your windows are not in the style of the original windows that is all.  ;) ;D (your current windows give the pub a different character). I hope you manage to find out the detail in the coat of arms. Someone must have a record of what was on it. Depending on when it was removed, do you have any old timer regulars who may remember it?

I will make a point of popping in for a pint if I'm ever in the area.  ;D
