Thanks Colette.

I have marked that on the list.

The trees will not need a lot of water for a while...it seems to have rained heavily most of the afternoon.

All the best, Chris

Sorry I am cork
but I do love Dublin and that accent is just something else

Love Anne

Anne,

Would you be bringing any one with you ???

Chris

hi chris,if you don't mind me butting in,
while reading the replies to your post
i noticed you may just have a demand for a 'mini meet'
for 2006,especially rootschatters who live
nearest to both venues.maybe even one
mini meet for belfast and another for dublin.
whet the appetite for the larger gathering ;D

What about you Anne?

Anthony, you wont be on your own will you ???

Things look good for a Saturday in Belfast sometime this year.
Any views on that one? Would someone like to start the poll
for a Belfast Meet on a Saturday this year ???

This site http://www.ancestryireland.co.uk/conference.php is about "Belfast: Past, Present and Future" A Family History Conference organised by the Ulster Historical Foundation. It is their 50th Anniversary Conference, taking place in Belfast on September 25th - October 3rd 2006

Have to say no as my money is going into decorating the house so will not have any spare for a while. Also enjoying spoiling my new grandaughter.

Hiya Anne and all posters on this thread,

This event does not take place until sometime next year. I am doing little bits of research. I hope more people read this thread, show interest in the event, vote and indicate that they may attend. Rail services to Dublin are good so those people living or spending a holiday somewhere some distance from Dublin will be able to travel there for a day if they wish. There is no need to stay in central Dublin as the DART Dublin Area Rapid Transport suburban railway system and LAUS http://www.lrta.org/luasindex.html Dublin Light Raail System will bring you to the city centre which means you may not require your car for the day. Some events will have to be organised somewhere...ideas are needed for those events..guest speakers or a couple of get togethers to discuss Irish genealogy problems at a prearranged venue.

I am looking at things for people (who may be spending a Friday to Sunday at the Irish Meet) to do. A friend and myself took a City Sight Seeing Tour of Dublin yesterday and can recommend this Tour. A bus leaves from a stop at the Gresham Hotel in O'Connell Street every ten minutes. The Tour lasts about and hour and ten minutes...the drivers give an excellent commentry. There are about twenty stops where you can leave the bus to have a look at a specific place of interest. You then catch another bus on the Tour and can get off at the next place you want to see. It was cold and raining :( so my friend did not want to get off to look at any of the places :(  Among the places where you can get off to view along the route are..Trinity College, the National Gallery, St Patrick's Cathedral (Anglican), Christ Church Cathedral (Anglican) ..you get off to view this at Lord Edward Street, Guinness Storehouse and the National Museum. Dublin has no Catholic Cathedral but it does have a Pro Cathedral in Marlborough Street http://www.dublintourist.com/details/st__mary_s_pro_cathedral.shtml

I noticed another tour in Dublin whilst I was there..the Viking Splash Tour This looks ood fun..I am sure many people will be trying this one when they come to Dublin. Have no fears...if your children are coming too there will be fun for all age groups :D http://www.vikingsplashtours.com/AboutUs.html ...I will do my best to take this trip so that I can post a "Which" type report about the tour on this thread. You can also learn all about the Dublin of James Joyce http://www.irishcultureandcustoms.com/AWriters/JoyceDublin.html and take a horse drawn carriage from St Stephen's Green.

It looks as though I will be busy during the next few months..look at this lot..Is there anyone living in Dublin or near to Dublin who would like to help please ???  The other way you can help is spread the word about an event which has the potential to be a GREAT ONE. http://www.frommers.com/destinations/dublin/0049010019.html

All the Best,

Chris
