William PEILL - New Jersey death help please
« on: Wednesday 22 February 06 11:13 GMT (UK) »
If anyone has access to the USA Social Security Death Index could you see if you could find a death entry for William PEILL, PEIL, PEILE, PEILLE please.

He was born 12th May 1878 Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland & died after 1930 when he was living in Glenridge, Essex County, New Jersey, USA according to the census.

I have the deaths of his wife Robina PEILL Mar 1978 & daughter Florence PEILL Jul 1979 both in Essex County, New Jersey + his son Edward PEILL Sep 1973 in New York.

Regards
Sally

What was his occupation?  If he worked for a government agency, he would not have needed a SS#.  My father didn't get one till the 1970s and then only because he needed it for his income tax returns.  Government employees have their own retirement plans that don't include social security.---Genealiza

Hi Genealiza

On the 1901 in Scotland he is listed as Joiner / House.
On the 1910 in New Jersey as Carpenter / House.
On the 1930 in New Jersey as Carpenter / House Building.
(He was back in Scotland when the 1920 would have been taken)

So I suppose he could have worked for a Government Agency building houses. If he doesn't turn up on the SS then I guess I will have see if I can find out if deaths are indexed & where I can find them.

Many thanks for your info
Regards
Sally
