Can someone tell me how I go about getting a baptism for a person born in Hopkinstown in 1909?  I've written to the clergy on several occasions and they simply do not have the manners to reply even though I enclosed SAE.

I cannot check the baptism... I will see if the birth was registered in the GRO Birth indices... hopefully there are not many of that name

You may also wish to consider the following... however it could be expensive... As far as I am aware
the Parish Records for Co. Meath have been extracted and indexed by the Meath Heritage Centre.

Firstly, Ardee is in Co. Louth not Co. Meath...  I only know of Drumcondra in Dublin... perhaps someone can tell us if there is also a Drumcondra in Co. Louth

I checked the birth indices for the birth of Thomas and extracted the following reference:-

BIRTH: FINNEGAN Thomas 1909 Ardee Vol.2 Page.333 Qtr.1st

The  above is where the birth was registered not necessarily his birth place....

The first quarter includes: January....  I would be interested to know where you wrote to for a copy of the baptism record... Your posts may need to be for the County Louth not Meath.. 

Was there some reason why you wanted a record of the baptism as apposed to a birth record?                       

If you need help in obtaining a copy of the birth record let me know....

Following my last post I discovered the following:-

The civil parish of Drumcondra lies on the north boundary of county Meath and the south border of county Louth. The parish is also known as Drumconrath

We learn something new every day....

Its correct name is Drumconrath. Thje basic Irish-language name may have been the same, but the place in Meath is known as Drumconrath, not Drumcondra.

Thank you for your input with regard to the spelling "Drumcondra" but this is the spelling that appears on the birth certificates that I have acquired so who's right you or the Registrar?
