Lookup Offer from The Encyclopedia of Ireland
« on: Saturday 25 February 06 17:27 GMT (UK) »
I have borrowed The Encyclopedia of Ireland. Brian Lalor, General Editor. Published by Gill and Macmillan from the library. This is a large volume containing loads of useful information. There are references to a lot of people and places.

Sorry, Karen, no one by the name of Gandley or Ganley. Anyone want a Gandon ??? There is a Dawe but no Dawkins

What year were your Heffernans Karen ??? There are two mentioned. Honor Heffernan, jazz musician, born Dublin in 1953 and Kevin Heffernan, gaelic footballer in the 1950s. He was born in Dublin too.

All the Best,

Christopher

Hello MaryA,

There are no Lamberts but are a couple of Lambs.

There is some interesting information about Lambay Island, a Co. Dublin nature reserve. It is a volcanic island owned at one time by Hon. Cecil Baring.

There are two Parkes and two Parkers. I am sorry there are no Parles or Parle-Glynns but there is one Parke. I thought it might contain a little piece of information about Barntown but we are unlucky with that one too.

Best Wishes, Chris

Thanks again,
Karen

Sorry Christopher I confused you, the Parles were from Glynn/Barntown in Wexford County, just outside Wexford Town.  Also rumoured to be connected with the Parles of the Saltee Islands.

But thank you for trying for me, I appreciate it.

Best wishes
Mary
