Help reading rank or profession in army

Hi All

Having a problem reading the rank or profession of Private in what army or is it Absent on Leave?  He is 28 and getting married in Leicester as that is where he was born.  Do not know any other details yet.

Never thought of the last letter as a C.  Were the Army Ordinance Corps just one unit across the army or for each county?

That was simply a guess  :-\ and I am now hoping that someone else will  jump in and suggest something different or tell you all about the AOC!!

john,the AOC went wherever the army went,they took care of guns and munitions,mack
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.
