Hi
I am trying to find where Patrick Rush was born. He was born about 1838.In  the 1881 British census says he was born Mayo county. His wifes name was Bridget Meeghan. I think they were married about 1860ish. All a bit vague but it's all I have.
Thanks
Phil.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your reply. Patrick and Bridgett moved to Liverpool about 1865. They had 2 sons before they emigrated. They were Thomas born 1860 and Charles born 1861. Patrick was a Tailor. There were 5 daughters all born in Liverpool. Does this help to identify the family or perhaps link with your research.
Regards
Phil.

Hi Phil,

Patrick was my great-great-great grandfather and I was named after him.  I have a picture of his tombstone (located in Salida, Colorado) and it states he was born in Roscommon, Ireland on May 4, 1832 and died on September 17, 1885.  Many members of the Rush family are buried in Salida including Patrick's son, Charles (my great-great grandfather) and his grandson William (my great grandfather).  I am unfamiliar with much history prior to Patrick, but I know a little about the time afterwards.

I have checked listings for kilmovee parish records and found the following:

1860
17 January
Martin Rush married a Bridget Meeghan
Witnesses:  William Meeghan/ ? Hopkins
No townlands listed in the above record.

May be of some use to you. But as I have found  - that sometimes you can be lead up the wrong path with records!!
Best of luck

Hi there.
Thanks for the above information although the name of Martin and not Patrick has stumped me for now. Will have to look into it.
Many thank's
