Hi - I've been down to Stranraer library and found details of the following in the Wigtownshire Freepress name index:-
John Craig- Coastguard- death at Drummore (just over the hill from Port Logan) in the 1872 13th June edition column 4H. I was going to look at the article on the microviche viewer but unfortunately someone had beaten me to it!!! Next time I'm down there I'll have a look.
Sorry can't help further right now

Hi,
In the 1841 census for Kirkmaiden at 3 Portlogan village

John Craig 40 navy Ireland
Isabella     35              "
Margaret   10              "
Letitia         8               "
John            6               "
Archibald     4
Isabella       3
Mary            1
The three youngest were born in the county, this is from the Kirkmaiden MI booklet:
Erected by NASSAW CRAIG in memory of ISABELLA TINNIE his mother who died at Drummore 17th Feb 1865 aged 62 years. Also his brothers JOHN and ARCHIBALD.
That is the only Craig in the book. My ancestors are all from this part and my great grandfather was a coastguard but at a later date
Regards
Beannie

Thank you so much for this info.

This gives me two brothers of my Letitia that I didn't have! It also solves a problem I had with thinking Letitia and her sister Isabella were one and the same.
Thank you again!
