Hello Sheenamac,

What denomination were Elizabeth and Thomas? Were they Catholics, members of the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland) or Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Thanks Christopher.  I don't know for sure, but I suspect they would have been Presbyterian.  I have a suspicion that this branch of the family went to Ireland from Scotland and I've found them when they returned.  What's the best way of getting access to church records?  Sheena

Records at www.emeraldancestors.com show that their Marriage was on 27th May 1858 at Shankill Church of Ireland
in the Parish of Shankill, Lurgan County Armagh.

Thanks Otto.  Is that the best site to try and find their parents or birth records also?

No records on that site for their births.
As Christopher says its church records that will have to be looked at now, either thtough a pay per view site, the actual church records, Latter day Saints family research centre or professional Genealogy Services.
