1841 Muirkirk Census lookup please
« on: Wednesday 01 March 06 00:10 GMT (UK) »
I found a site that said Muirkirk was not yet uploaded on Freecen.  If that is true, would someone please do a lookup for the following:

Joseph McFadzen and spouse, Mary Fisher.  Their ages are unknown but they may have a son Joseph on the 1841 census of about one year.  I have a record of the birth of baby Joseph on 12 April 1840 in Muirkirk but can find no other record of this family.

Thank you.

Rose

Thank you very much.  It helps a lot.

I am also interested in this same family in 1851 to see if a John joins the family.  In 1851 he would be about 6.  Again, I think on Freecen, it told me this parish was not around in 1851.  If my memory is accurate, this area was called something else in 1851.  I can search for it but if you have the ability to look at the 1851 census or at least give me the comparable area, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have checked 1851 census which I am currently transcribing.  Sorry, but I do not see any McFadzen or McFaddins.  :(
Linkeyburn is an area there, and is on the Muirkirk 1851 census.

There was movement of labourers and miners within nearby villages in that area.  Esp Irish.  Although a lot of people that migrated to Muirkirk at that time did tend to stay!  It was a village so full of life.

Sorry I have not found your people.  Best to search all scotland census when it goes online soon.  Best of luck.  :)

Thank you both for your efforts.  I will continue to check all Scotland when everything is on line.
