Lyon - Millhouse, East Kilbride

Does anybody know anything of Millhouse or William Lyon who lived there in 1841 please?

I just found this in the 1841 census (thanks, Freecen!!)

Millhouse, East Kilbride Ecclesiastical Parish

   Willian (sic) Lyon aged 63, a Farmer born in  Lanarkshire         
   Mathew Lyon aged 25, an Ag. Lab.  born in  Lanarkshire         
   Margrat (sic) Lyon aged  21 and born in Lanarkshire         
   Thomas Gibson aged 19, Male Servant born in Lanarkshire   

Thomas Gibson is I believe, my 3G Grandfather, known to have been married to a Margaret Lyon (she died before 1851).  Their 3 children were all born in East Kilbride (1844 - 1849) and the naming pattern fits with Margaret's father being William - also one of their grandsons was called William Lyon Gibson - so I am almost convinced that the William here is my 4G Grandfather. I think his wife was Margaret Brown and presume she must have died before 1841.

Could anyone with the MI's for East Kilbride please have a look?

You may already have this information but is this the family living in East Kilbride in 1851 ?

Thomas Gibson age 31 born Haddington Abbey
Margaret Gibson age 7 born East Kilbride
Arthur Gibson age 5 born East Kilbride
William Gibson age 2 born East Kilbride

Parish/ward 643 Dist 5 page 2 lines 16-19

On line 20 giving the impression that he is living with this family is
Andrew Gibson aged 27 born Cadder

The BVRI has only one entry for William Lyon and that is the birth of Mathew Lyon in East kilbride in1807 father William Lyon mother Margaret Brown.

Hello Robert,

Yes, that is my Thomas in the 1851. The Arthur Gibson aged 5 was actually called Andrew, it was written incorrectly on the census form, presumably by the enumerator - not a transcription error, I mean.  Andrew's death cert names Margaret Lyon as his mother and and I assume that she died before 1851.

Andrew Gibson, aged 27,  born Cadder was the younger brother of Thomas Gibson.

I have wondered about the Haddington (this is East Lothian, I think? not Lanarkshire) but I am still more or less convinced that this is my Thomas and Margaret. They married 6th Nov 1842 in East Kilbride according to the OPR.

Having said that, the ages are quite far out? Mathew should have been 34 in 1841, Thomas (b. 1819) about 22 and Margaret Lyon was born in 1815 according to OPR and should have been 26 in 1841 ....
