Joseph Byrne Liverpool Cork/Cart Manufacturer

Hi

Does anyone have any information about a Joseph Byrne of Liverpool, described as either a Cart or Cork Manufacturer (the writing is difficult to decipher!) who died sometime before 1867. I wondered if he might have been listed in a trade directory.

Any help would be appreciated

In Slater's Directory of Manchester and Salford, 1863

on page 16, in the Manchester section, listed under the heading Boot and Shoemakers

Byrne Joseph, 144 Stockport Rd

Is this the right guy?

Hi Sue

I really don't know. There are several entries in FreeBMD for Joseph Byrne, just from Liverpool, in the period I'm interested in. My g. grandfather Peter Byrne's occupation when he married in 1867 and was living in Liverpool is given as a cork cutter so I'm working on the theory that he was employed in the family business.
