Look-Up for Taylor Drysdale Glasgow Please
« on: Friday 03 March 06 14:42 GMT (UK) »
Please could anyone help me with the birth details of Taylor Drysdale born Glasgow? to Alexander Drysdale and Elizabeth Barker Rae. He would be born between 1899 and 1905.

This family were living in Duke Street, Camlachie, Glasgow in 1901 but Taylor is not with them then. They were in England in 1907.

The illusive Taylor was talked about within the family but I can't find his birth details.

Any help would be most appreciated, and I am willing to reimburse the cost of a look-up in Scotland.

Kind regards,

Calmar

No sign of a birth or death. I did find these, maybe Taylor is a middle name?

Hi Cathy,

Thank you for taking the time to look for me.

The story in the family is that Taylor was killed during the war. I would have thought WW11 given that there were 2 children showing on 1901 census from 1899 -1901. The next brother was born in Glasgow in 1902, definitely not him. There were 3 more after him and not a Taylor in their names. :(

The thing is, I have found that the eldest child, Alexander born 1899, was killed during WW1 in 1918 at the age of 18. As I haven't got his birth info, only info from census in 1901, I am not sure whether he may have been Alexander Taylor!! ::)

The two youngest  children were born in England in 1912 and 1914.

I am now wondering if it was Alexander and he was called Taylor for some reason, probably to differentiate between father and son.

A real mystery!

Kind regards,

Calmar
