Yes - it's def. mechanic - although I did wonder what you had to do to be a "mushroom" !

I ended up with Mechanic, but I originally thought it could have been Musician. There would have been a redundant c at the end then, though.
I thought the enumerator had put the 'h' mark thought the middle of the word - it does look like a mark added later.

I am in the middle of transcribing an 1891 census piece... Your 1841 Mechanic is much more easily readable than half of the words I am contending with!
