John Mather and Jane King - Hamilton 1800s
« on: Friday 03 March 06 21:46 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for any information regarding the marriage of John Mather and Jane King.

John was illegitimate and born in Hamilton in 1809 to John Mather and Janet Hamilton.  I have located (I think) Janet Hamilton but not John Mather (senior)

According to John's death record he lived at 18 Holmes Street, Hamilton and had been married first to Jane King and second to Jane Henderson.

I have found the second marriage in 1850 and that family but have been unable to find information on his marriage to Jane King.

Between 1824 and 1849 John served in the 79th Foot Regiment and also the 99th Foot Regiment so his first marriage could have been wherever he served.

The 1851 Census shows a John Millar (step-son aged 6) living with John.

Any info on John and Jane King or any info on the "step-son" John Millar would be appreciated.
