chasing up info. on Angus McNeil & Mary Grant he was born abt. 1808 in Moidart Inverness shire ,she in 1814 at Ardnamurchan Inverness Scotland.
They arrived  in Victoria Australia in 1852.

Hi Brian

Since he was born before1855 he pre-dates the start of Statutory Registration and would be recorded in the Old Parochial Records (OPR).
These are not yet available on-line so it would be a matter of luck if another RootsChatter happened to see your post and have Angus in his/her family line!!
This would be more likely on a site which covers Scotland only like TalkingScot.
Your best bet would be to look through the LDS film for the parish at a local Latter day Saints centre near you. It's the slow way to do it but quite a fascinating read. The most you would be likely to get would be names of both parents and 'of this parish'. Sometimes only the father is given.

Yes they were Roman Catholic.
The family arrived aboard the Araminta on 4/10/1852 it consisted of Angus 38,wife Mary 37, children Donald 15 Margaret 12, Mary 9, Anne 6, John 4, Flora
1 but she died on the voyage
