how would i go about obtaining details of my g.g.g.g.grandfather ralf oakes..born about 1760 in backford cheshire,.....went to backford on easter monday and visited st oswalds church....no sign of oakes family on any headstones.......wasn`t until i was on my way home that i realised i saw a headstone for a priest....my family are all protestants....is st oswalds a catholic church? if so,is there a protestant church in backford?...the church is the 1st building as you enter the village,so i never ventured into the village...if there is no protestant church in backford,does anyone know the nearest protestant church to backford....there were a lot of headstones of people fom nearby villages,so maybe he is buried nearby....if anyone lives locally could advise me ,i would appreciate it...kind regards...allan oakes
