I have a letter written from my Gt. grandfather Benjamin Rowe to his eldest son James in 1898. In it he gives his approval of him joining the A. Volunteers. Does this stand for Army? James would have been 18 years old. If anyone has any idea I would be grateful and also if I would be likely to find any documentation somewhere.
