Rankin - Gorbals Glasgow 1827

I am seeking information on Robert Rankin born 1827 in Glasgow. He moved to Liverpool and Married his employment was given as a Porter on the landing stage in Liverpool in the 1881 census when he was aged 54, so I assume he was previously a seaman.

The 1841 index has two 15 year old Robert Rankin's living in Hutchestown (bordering the Gorbals area) and a third just a short distance away in the ST. Thomas area.

I have ordered the parish records for two Robert Rankin's born in Glasgow in 1927.  I was informed that perhaps the family had a small business in Glasgow but don't have any further information.  His father may have been Alexander or Robert
