Looking for Lost Grandpa
« on: Tuesday 07 March 06 05:50 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone,

I am Looking for my husbands Grandfather Robert George Hargreaves who was born in 1872 to Charles and Mary Jane (Deverell) Hargreaves.

Charles was in the military and was always moving the family around. Going by the 1871 census he was in Dover Hougham Kent at The Front Barracks Western Heights.
One of the seniors in Roots Chat had a look for his birth between 1870 and 1874 and could not find him.

I had a look on the Free BDM and there was a Robert Hargreaves born in 1872 in Ashton Under Lyne and I was wondering if it could be him.

Could someone please have a look for me to see if it is his birth/Chr?

Kind Regards

Hi

Sorry the one born in Ashton according to the 1881 census was born to father Robert mother Jane, and was around Ashton for the next 2 census years.

Having just found your Charles aged 9 in the 1881 census it say's he was born at Shorncliffe, I believe Folkstone Kent ? where there was and still is I think an Army barracks.

hope this helps

Hi Peter,

I has been a long time since I have heard from you......... I hope you and your family are well.

I think i will put in another request for Kent and see what happens.

Thanks Su for the 1881 census but I already had it, it was just that the Senior from Roots Chat looked for Robert Hargreavers between the years 1870 and 1874 in Kent and could not find him anywhere. I am running out of straws.
Thanks anyway

Wendy
