Greetings Harry, I have tried three times to get a photo posted,  to no avail. If I email it to you would this work? Could you post it for me? I am in the USA.

Geniewizard,

The images need to be scanned at much higher resolution if that is possible.

At least 300 dpi or better still 600 dpi.

If you can do this I will PM you my e-mail address and you can e-mail them to me..

If not post them to me and I will scan them for you and e-mail or sedn good prints back.

Regards

Harry

Hi Harry,

I was just looking at photo restoration.  I've just realised (not too quick on the mark there) that I can scan negatives and slides on my scanner.  It's a Canon Pixma.

I've just tried it with the black plastic inset provided (wondered what that was for) and just got a picture of the negative, it's tiny. I expected to see a photo, like I said, not the brightest button.  Can I pick your brains?  I've got loads of negatives, how do I scan them and do I need the black plastic inset/holder to do this as I think there is a bit missing?

Shame that there aren't more people in the world like you, it would be a much nicer place and there'd be millions of pictures everywhere ;D ;D

Kind regards

Ursula, when scanning a negative you should scan at 2400dpi or better
I've just tried it with the black plastic inset provided (wondered what that was for) and just got a picture of the negative, it's tiny.

My guess is that you are viewing the pic' in your editing programme and that is why it "appears" so small.
Most likely the prog' is displaying it at the scanned resolution, meaning that 1inch scanned at 1000dpi and viewed at 1000dpi is still 1inch - if you change the resolution to 100dpi it will display at 10inch.

In short there are two things to try.

first.........change the resolution (in photoshop or whatever programme you are using) of the scanned image to say 300dpi

second....if the first didn't work then rescan at say 2400dpi.

Hi Denn,

Thanks for that, I'll give that a try tomorrow.  It's 11.30 PM here in the uk.  Do I need the black plastic holder?  I think it's missing a bit as I looked in the manual and there should be some sort of clip on it, which I haven't got.  The scanner was given to me.

Thanks for your help

Don't know about yours but most neg's need to be in the plastic holder to scan, I'm not sure what the clip is though.
