Thomas H Parry/ from where
« on: Wednesday 08 March 06 05:06 GMT (UK) »
Thomas H Parry left Wales via Liverpool in 1869 with his wife and four children. Their ages were Thomas - 35,
Jane - 32, Mary -7, Elizabeth -5, John -4, Arthur -3.
I have been unable to find where they came from in Wales. The children were born after one census and they left before the next one. I do not know anything before they got on board the ship!!
Any suggestions ?? PLEASE.

Bob
Jones- Llangynhafal, Llandyrnog
Davies- Denbigh
Parry- Llanrhaiadr
Roberts- Llanrhaiadr

Hello Bob

Try searching the birth registrations for Arthur.
Link is below for free access to the complete records,
which are at present available free to view on the BETA
index.

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx

I could only see two Arthurs born 1866 in Welsh districts.
One in June quarter in Ruthin district   and the other in December quarter in Newtown district.

The certificate should give Jane`s maiden  name.
You can then search the  index for the marriage.

Thanks for the site, Rhys

Because Arthur was listed as 3 years old, I checked between March 1865 and March 1866. I only got one obvious hit which was  Ruthin, I then looked for John with three hits at Ruthin, Elizabeth got two and Mary had two.
  Is there a site on-line, where I can check Arthur's numbers 11b  407??
I live in Canada and am quite new at this searching but my son and I are going to Wales in mid- May. My grand-
father came from the Ruthin/ Denbigh area so we will be doing some checking at the Ruthin Records Office.
My grand-mother was the Elizabeth I am trying to place in Wales.

  So once again, thanks

Interestingly when I checked for a Thomas Parry in the Ruthin area in the 1861 census I find one living in
Penywaen , Llanrhaiadr (about 3/4 miles outside Ruthin on the Denbigh road)
Thomas Parry   26   Farmer 35 acres (1 man) b. Llanrhaiadr
Jane                 24                                                 do
Mary                   1                                                 do
plus the farmworker and a houseservant

the ages for the parents work and Mary is close  - have you eliminated them from your enquiries as the saying goes!

there are also a couple of possible Thomas Parry's as the father in the area - both are farmers.

hope this helps

Peter
Jones, Edwards, Davies, Owen, Benjamin , Hughes , Roberts,Thomas,Williams, Wynne , Griffiths, Howells, Rowlands etc etc
plus
Thomas,Trewren,Holmes,Thirlwall,Jones again & again
& more

Hi Both

The 1870 USA Wisconsin census has Daughter Mary
aged 10,so the family may well have been on the
Denbighshire census in 1861.
Bob
If you require the 1870 census details let me know.
Not sure what you mean by an on line site to check the number. Is it not clear on the BETA index which is as i understand , a film of the  official index.

Thanks for your response, Peterej & Rhys

First Peterej,To answer your query, no I had not eliminated
anyone as I did not think they would be on the census and I have not found a marriage for Thomas and Jane yet. I guess I will just have to keep looking. It might not be possible without her surname.

Now Rhys, I have the family on the 1880 census, in Looking Glass, Platte, Nebraska.
Where were they in the 1870 census??
I understand that they were at Osh Kosh, Wisconsin for awhile.
The index number was clear enough but I was wondering if there was a site where I could follow up on that information.
I have an interesting search ahead of me. I am looking for
Jones, Parry, Davies and Roberts.
Do you think I may find some in Wales??  ;)  :)

Thanks again and bye for now,  Bob

Hello Bob
You can purchase the certificate  for £7 on the
official government web site using a credit card.
Should give both parents and mothers maiden name.
Also location.
