I had a problem this morning, got a notification which indicated a reply from you and was in actual fact my own message coming back. Must be gremlins in the works.
I had a look at the marriage entry, unfortunately there is nothing more to add to what you already know exept that they were married by banns and both made x's
The witness, just one, was James Clarkson and as he's on a lot of the other marriages as witness I think he was a church official.
Sorry I didn't get to you before you'd ordered the copy from Cheshire.

Thanks for looking Pat.  As I've only paid out £1.45 for a copy of the parish record, it doesn't really matter that I didn't see your offer to look at the library before I spent my money ::)  It's always nice to have "official" paperwork in any case.

Lizzie

ps.  Still didn't get the notification about your posting, although I had one from a thread that I started - very strange.

Pat

Just done a search on the 1841 census for James Clarkson, there were two both aged 50, both living in Stockport, but one was a Parish Clerk, so I guess he's the witness.

Yes Lizzie, I thought he must be.
As for the notification I think you didn't get one about my posting because I got it instead. Why I would get my own post back, haven't a clue. Perhaps I did something wrong.
Anyway it seems to be OK now.

Pat.

I'm locking this topic as it is too long and is causing problems with notifications etc.

If you have a Cheshire pre 1837 marriage request please post it on the lookup board as a separate thread.

Thanks

Jean
