*COMPLETED*Chick Bristol
« on: Wednesday 08 March 06 21:39 GMT (UK) »
George Chick, Groom/Ostler born Clifton Bristol around 1831.  Please can anyone find him on 1841 Bristol census?  Cannot find his father Daniel Chick as noted on his marriage certificate.  Also cannot find George's baptism.

Thanks

Dear Frances,

Thank you very much for the help.  We found that baptism and it has kept us bemused for ages.  The baptisms index says George Drewitt but the actual scan is not clear.  I don't think it is him as the age is consistent on docs and he is younger than the one on the baptism.  There were lots of Chicks in Bristol at the time and many named Ann and cannot match up any of them.  However no Daniel.

Thank you so much for taking the trouble.

Cheers, Nameless

Hi,

How about this one ?  He's the only George Chick showing up in 1841 of about the right age.

Daniel Short  30  Coal Miner    Y
Eliza Short  40    N
Frederick Short  6    N
Robert Short  4    Y
Philip Short   1    Y
/ ??
George Chick  12     Y
John Janett  45  Hatter J   Y
William Hignell  30  Ag. Lab.    Y
Jane Hignell  60  Charwoman   Y

Oldland Common, Bitton, Gloucestershire
HO107/361  folio 59  page 21

Y/N = Yes/No born in county

/ = same house separate household

The image is not clear as to whether George Chick is with the Short's or with the other household.  Wonder if he's Eliza's son  ???

Dear Susan,

Thank you for that one.  He seems the right age.  I'll see if I can prove it somehow.

Thanks for all the help.
