Help Please. OPR lookup for Lesmahagow

Scotlandspeople have thrown up the following two marriage records for James Hamilton.

08/05/1776 HAMILTON JAMES MARGARET ROBISON/FR619 M LESMAHAGOW 649/00 0003
01/02/1776 HAMILTON JAMES JEAN OR MARGARET ROBISON FR619 M LESMAHAGOW 649/00 0003

Why would there be two records 3 months apart or is it a typo? And did he marry Jean or Margaret ?

I am also looking for the birth of Thomas Hamilton around 1779 in Lesmahagow.  He is likely to be somewhere between Jean Hamilton 1778 Fr333 and Robert Hamilton 1780 Fr336.  I cannot find him on Scotland's People but he appears in the 1851 census living with his sister Janet (parents James Hamilton & Jean Robison)

I do have a note of the children you listed from IGI.  I am also trying to locate Thomas.

According the the 1851 Census in Hamilton. 

Thomas Hamilton (head) age 72 - Lesmahagow
Janet Hamilton (sister) age 74 - Lesmahagow

This would put Thomas about 1779 between Jean and Robert

There was also a niece who is the daughter of Margaret and a Grand niece whose parents I have still to locate.
