Recomending a book...
« on: Friday 10 March 06 13:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I would like to recomend a book that is easy to read and very imformative about life in 1700 London. Although the book is based around life in London at this time it does also apply to the rest of the UK aswell.

The book covers contents such as Marriage, childbirth, disease, the home, death etc  it covers why people were buried in wool, the stink of the church for three weeks when someone was buried inside the church to when babies were baptised and how muggins often took place at funerals and how funerals were arranged and people were sent invitations to funerals.

I found it very interesting as there are few books written about ordinery every day people and this is most of the subject matter - rather than the "well to do"

The book is 1700, scenes from london life by Maureen Waller
