The CUCKFIELD Family History Day at CUCKFIELD Museum

How many of you shall we see there on this the Sussex Boards Mini Meet of Rootschatters.?

It would be really good to see as many of you as possible there and start putting faces to the names of Sussex researchers.

It was a most successful day.  Thank you so much Chris for all your efforts.   We were overwhelmed at the numbers arriving and everyone was most appreciative of your talk and obviously felt they had had a great afternoon.

I really enjoyed myself this afternoon.

We put out 50 chairs and they just kept rolling in, more and more chairs had to be found, stands had to be pushed back to make way for the extra rows of chairs - Wow, what a day.

People were taking their seats some 40 mins before it started at 2.30pm.

In the end we counted 103 - yes, one hundred and three bums on seats all waiting to learn more about 'Beginning Your Family History'

KerryB, sorry I missed you at the end, but I hope you enjoyed your short stay in Cuckfield

Yes sorry I missed you too, but I had a really nice afternoon and I enjoyed your talk, it served as a good reminder to me.  I'm glad it was so successful and wow 103 people!

Pen - yes my great great grandmother was a Vincent from Cuckfield, hence my reason for visiting the village and getting to know it.  She was Naomi Vincent born 1851 to William Vincent 1810 to 1885 and Louisa Johnson 1814 to1882. William's family seemed to have come from Cowfold and Bolney which is fairly close to Cuckfield.

Fantastic response, over 100 bums on chairs plus one or two standing at the back

                 Enjoyed the photos! I do hope that they cheered up a bit AFTER your speech! (See last photo!) It sounds as though it was a resounding success, will o be holding another next year? I do hope so!

Yes, at this particular time they did not know what to expect, but later on they all seemed to liven up and were firing questions and answers to my questions at me from the floor.

There was talk after the meet about doing it again next year and I indicated that I would be happy to attend - another suggestion was that perhaps a talk on 'Parish Registers' would go down pretty well.
