Another Jones! Completed

Trying to trace my husbands family (mother). She was Gwendoline Maud Jones (b1928) m Kenneth Morgan Lewis. She lived in Clocaenog with her grandmother. Her own mother emigrated to Melbourne, Australia with her 2 (?) sisters. I have lots of photographs without any names attached and others which say things like 'Great Taid' but no other info. Her mother was called Myfanwy but I don't know her maiden name. Ialso have a letter sent from Aus to Mary Jones at 3, Glandwr Cottages, Clocaenog.

Does any of this ring any bells?

The key here is her birth certificate. That will also give her mothers maiden name.

I've had a look at the BMD, there are a couple of Gwendoline Jones b 1928:

2nd quarter:

3rd quarter

Gwendoline M. , mothers maiden name: Jones, Ruthin 11b 414

none in the 1st of 4th quarter.

I assume you have her birthdate? I would write to the local RO giving the info you have and ask for the birth cert.

Another possibility would be her marriage cert. That will give her fathers name.

Thanks for that. Interestingly there is a maiden name Jones/Ruthin in there. I thought that couldn't be right but maybe thats the one. Gwendolines d. o. b 7/6/28. Will do some more digging!

If you know the exact date of birth, I would order the birth cert. That will give you the address and her mothers maiden name.

This is your best bet. Clocaenog is in the Ruthin RD and with the name Gwendoline M (?Maud), you're on a winner, I think
