Marriage Lookup: London
« on: Saturday 11 March 06 18:28 GMT (UK) »
Morning all

I wonder if someone could find a marriage
entry for

Joseph Kent Drake
and Sarah (?) between 1871-1881

Joseph is widowed in 1871 Census RG10 581/96 Page 17
and married by 1881 RG11 0508/133 Pg30 with a daughter
aged 8 years

(note: the entry in FREEBMD Dec 1876      Stepney  1c 962  is his nephew of same name)

Many thanks in advance

hi there, i have looked for a marriage, only on Ancestry though which you may have already done!
There is a marriage of a Joseph Drake in Apr Qtr 1871 in Kensington.  Other names on the page are David William Thornton and Sarah Olaver Vincent - i have found David William Thornton on the 1881 census and he was married to a  Sarah - so Sarah Vincent may have married him, the other wife is missing :S i dont really know why that is!  but its a date to look at as their daughter would ave been born in about 1873 so its likely they married before.

Hi Scarcy

I did find that Kensington marriage and sent off
for the certificate with fingers crossed it was him.
But no - a different chap altogether.

I've just found the first wife Elizabeth Sarah Drake's
death in 1865 so he certainly was widowed in
1871 Census - and the 1881 seems plausible it is
him with new wife/child - as he died in that same
house/address in August of 1881

So its back to the drawing board trying to find his
marriage between 1871-1873 and the birth of the
daughter Mary Ann in 1873.

Thanks for your time Scarcy
