May I go back to square one and ask what is probably a dumb question? but I haven't been able to find the answer on reading the thread.

Did anybody ever figure out who Amelia Carnarton was? ;)

Yes, we did.  She was an illegitimate daughter of Mary CARNARTON 1791-1867 (later Mrs Richard DENNIS).  Mary was daughter of Charles CARNARTON and Margaret/Margery PERROW.

Cheers

Peter

What an amazing thread
Interesting topic
& Wonderful results
So glad that the DNA confirmed the results

Did it confirm the PALMER children's parentage ?

It would be good to have a summary of Amelia s life to exclude the other Amelia

I'm researching for  a friend who s father was from Truro  Cornwall

Have you seen that Ancestry ethnicity now shows cornwall as a specific region

Did it confirm the PALMER children's parentage ?

Yes, it did. I am the 2x Gt Grand daughter of Mary Smith/Slack (Amelia Carnarton & George Slack/Smith's youngest child) who married John Palmer.
I have many Carnarton, & Palmer DNA matches.  :)

Well done everyone, this is not only the largest thread on this entire site (I think) but it has also lasted for 18 years!

I'm dropping in just to apologise for not replying to other messages in this thread since 2014. In Feb 2015 when Britgirl replied to my question, I was in the middle of a very complicated and difficult household move to another city 500 km away in the middle of the worst winter of the millennium. In January 2019 when she posted her DNA results that I would normally have been fascinated by, I was out of town spending the holidays caring for my mother who was just beginning to benefit from the brand spanking new cancer immunotherapy, experiencing a bit less pain and regaining a bit of mobility but still taking all our time and attention.

So ... congrats on the DNA confirmation!

And now thanks to Peter for the April 2024 answer (that month it was my partner in hospital in yet another diabetes crisis...) to my 2014 question. ;)

I'm not going to try to remember what this was all about now, but a good job was obviously done by all!
