Rootschat filtered
« on: Monday 13 March 06 21:17 GMT (UK) »
As a new member, I am slowly getting addicted to this site.  I was therefore quite distressed when I risked disciplinary action and attempted to log on at work for the first time today.
It was filtered out.
It took me a short while to understand why, but I felt foolish when I was unable to explain why I was in uncontrollable laughter to my colleagues. :-[
Does anyone else out there get rootschat filtered at work?
The way round it at my place is, of course to set it up as a hyperlink.

Rob,

It could be that your work's internet access has some sort of content filter set up.  Do you work in a place where children could have access?  There are some internet filters that block out sites with rude words so someone putting up a post with B*****ds in the title could have triggered the filter. ;)

Cheers,

Al

Thanks Al, you, as usual, have been very clever.  I've just remembered that there are some children where I work, so someone must have set up the filter to cut out rude words.
However, I'm not convinced about your explanation, but fear that it could be the name of the site itself.  Try looking up root in a dictionary and if Chambers is correct, our Australian and New Zealand friends may have already had a bit of a laugh. :D

Ah yes!

I remember the Panda joke (eats, shoots, roots & leaves)

Cheers,

Yes, a much better use of the idea than the best selling book which left the roots bit out.

Someone once told me that if you search for "roots chat" as opposed to "rootschat" you get an entirely different set of websites.

I haven't checked that out, as I have rootschat on my favourites....but it may be the reason why.

Nina, Just tried Roots Chat and I am glad to say we are still number one ;D

Rob I think the problem is the word Chat which is the reason you having problems. One way around it is to type something that can take you though a back door  ;)

Example..

"Youdan Family of York" is number 5 for RootsChat in Google
