Godparents on church records?
« on: Tuesday 14 March 06 13:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone

I have a birth certificate for William Traynor (sometimes listed as Trainor) born 40 Bolton street, Workington 31 October 1880.   Willam was roman catholic and I am trying to find two things:

1) Which church would his record be located in

2) can anyone take a look to see if the godparents are listed or any other information?

Thanks all

Nicola  ;D

I would imagine there was only one Catholic church in Workington

I know that Whitehaven Catholic records are held at the local church.  Whitehaven Records Office should be able to tell you about the Workington records

Catholic records normally have the names of two "sponsors" (= godparents).
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
