Think it's now probably the Marton Myddle, etc. near Astley, Jan.
Allan thinks that his relatives came from there - see 6 August message.

Abode: New Marton, P of Ellesmere

That's what made me think it's the Ellesmere one!!!!! ;D

Marton, Myddle isn't near to Astley :(

I go to St Martin's every fortnight - step-daughters moved there this Summer :)  It's about 20 miles from me, and a very windy road >:(

I'm not sure of the  Astley part, except what Allan said  - New Marton and St Martins I know well -`some rellies still live there  :)

Are you still doing that weekly journey to my home village?

Where is Marton - I see a Marton and Myddleton just NW of Astley on the map ref I gave.

Yes, I see them too, but I was originally thinking of places much nearer to Astley, as I have done quite a few look ups for Allan in the village.  It does help to look further afield :-[

hello all

Marton and Myddlewood are less than two miles from Myddle.

Astley is about 5 miles from Preston Gubbals where the church is St Martin's.

sorry if this is irrelevant.
