Hi Kazza,

I did some searching for you last night,came up with some Hobsons but no Robert. He may have been born in Britain came to Oz then returned. He may have been born on ship coming out here, anything is possible,but I will keep looking. There was one I found with an infant but not a Robert.
So if he settled in Gloucester can I assume he went back to where his parents came from? They didn't seem to move very far from their roots then.

Thanks for looking for me.  
I have no proof that the Hobsons originated in this area but it seems logical to assume they may have done.  It interests me that he married in Bristol though,  I can find no link in his wife's line to Bristol.  I am still waiting for their marriage cert.  maybe that will help a little.

I'll keep looking and hopefully when you get your marriage certificate you will let me know more.

I have family left behind in England when another ggrandfather was transported to Tasmania.He was from Westbury-on Trym which is near Bristol. He stareted a new life here.don't knowwhat happened to his por wife & their 4 children though. Sad really.
