Bmd records moveing to India?

I have just read in my Sunday paper, British Births, Marriages and deaths are to be stored in a center in the southern city of Chennai, India.

Apparently to save money!!!

How much will it cost to send off for one?  More chance of getting lost in the post, and how long to get here.

   It makes it a lot clearer than the Newspaper I read, though I still think all the work should be carried out in the UK.

I agree it should be - but of course we all know the Indians work a LOT cheaper!!!

Mr Cook said today, ..... that the only bid received to do the work wholly in the UK was several times the cost of the proposed Seimens contract.

And I really do hope that the quality control is as good as they say it will be. I dont want to be looking for Somerset records in Somalia like the Mormons did in Utah. The IGI is a right useless mess for that county!!!
