It is a clamp to hold the childs head still. They all have one. I expect thats why they all look uncomfortable.

No worries Jason  :) it was fun!

I'm not so sure it is a head holder behind the boy's head, I've never seen one that looks like that, usually they are a kind of clamp arrangement that looks a bit like some kind of medieval torture device!

I couldn't work out what it was but anyway I left it in because it's part of the original.
