« on: Monday 20 March 06 21:47 GMT (UK) »

my family is a marriage of Cuthberts (small landowners in Lincolnshire, artisans (wheelwrights, carpenters) and industrial revolutionists (railway builders and workers, engineers, newspaper publishers) and Kemps (scavengers, hawkers, costermongers, chimney sweeps, dustmen and municiple carmen and gypsies). Claims to fame? driver of the flying scotsman, hirer of donkeys to street hawkers, builders labourer of the slums of London

Hi Monique,

How about a big wheel - with spokes (wheelwright)

Inside each spoke a differect occupation - Trains - houses - bridges - sellers - etc

Now off to think about my lot - papermakers - bargemen - cabinet makers - builders !!

Cheers

Keith you'rs should be a tree (papermakers) with the other occupations hidden in the branches.  Good fun for the future generations of children to try to spot them.

I'll have a wheel too, as my lot were wheelwrights and joiners.

Su

Like it Su - only problem being most of them seem to be hiding in the tree as well as their occupations!!

I like it Kali - although not sure whether not having grandparents listed is OK  ;D ;D
Now if it's not occupations but names - Bateman-Partington-Davis-Foster wonder how that would look on a family tree - must ask Gadget to do one for me!!  8)

Cheers

Sorry to butt in but that Keith ^^^ suggested i might be interested :)

I'm trying to do something for him at the moment but I keep getting new ideas :) :) :)

Seriously, my tree would have to have farm implements, shepherd's crooks, a forge, boats, miners lamps, Florence Nightingale lamps, telephones.........

I'll work on it.
