yes keith, the book already exists, i have been working on it since 1983 when i was contacted by a relation in australia, who gave me info on my grandfather and a lot lot more, i have compleated the book numerous times but you know how it is with this hobby you are never happy and you never finish, so i carry on, up to now the book is about 800 pages and growing, where and when DO you finish.  kali.

Seriously, my tree would have to have farm implements, shepherd's crooks, a forge, boats, miners lamps, Florence Nightingale lamps, telephones.........

I'll work on it.

I think ours will have to be a  grim reaper sat cringing in a darkened room hovering over a computer hiding from all our ancestor's ghosts.

Our family has dug up so many unspoken secrets that I am sure they would rather be left alone in peace or if they could, would strike the whole lot of us down with a bolt of lightening for not getting on with our own lives and leave them to rest in peace.

But there again I always was too interested in other peoples lives, so maybe the family crest should just be a magnifying glass with Jules Verne's Time Machine hovering over it

thanks for the replies. Unlike Kali, I'm hopeless at art, so the photo montage is a good alternative idea-did you use photoshop for that Keith?

Yes Monique that's what I used - relatively easy really - as you say I am not "arty" either so that was easier for me.

The hardest bit is thinking up ideas - in this case Gadget gave them to me in her post - then it was just a matter of finding pictures!!

I copied using a duplicate image and altering the opacity - easy when you know how!

Cheers

Keith
