John Murphy & Mary Welsh
« on: Tuesday 21 March 06 19:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi Listers
I am looking for information on John Murphy ,c 1839 son of John Murphy coalminer and Mary Welsh ,c1839 dau of Thomas Welsh farmer. John and Mary came to England sometime before August 1859 when they married in Bradford Yorkshire. Thomas Welsh was deceased at the time of their marriage. I know nothing at all about these families before they came to England, I'm not even sure if they came from Limerick, a cousin seems to think they did.
I would appreciate any help at all in finding out more about these families and their life in Ireland.
Regards
Julia

If John's father John was a coal miner he was most likely living in England before his sons marriage.
There weren't any coal mines in Limerick as far as I'm aware, so with a bit of luck check the 1851 census for the area they lived in in 1859.

I just googled coal mines in Ireland and found these, on the off chance that he was a miner in Ireland these are more likely counties:
