Help with Elizabeth Ann Rostron
« on: Wednesday 06 October 04 19:24 BST (UK) »
Hi! Don't know if anyone can help me with this one, I have had a lot of dicculty trying to find anything about my great grandmother.
Her name is Elizabeth Ann Rostron, she married in Salford in 1883 and became Rustidge, the certificate states she was 23 on marriage, making her born 1860c, and her father was an engineer by the name of John Rostron (deceased).
I have located her on the 1891 census and it states born Hindley, Lancashire and age matches marriage certificate. She died before the 1901 census, so I cannot check her on there.
On the 1881 census I have found a Elizabeth A. Rostron as a boarder age fits but she is born in Bolton, thing is she is living in the street near to the man she married.

So I was wondering if anyone has any named indexes for either the 1861 census or 1871 for the Lancashire area, could you see if you can locate Elizabeth Ann Rostron with a father named John Rostron.

I have phoned a couple of the registry offices and they have been kind enough to have a look for me, but no luck, also I have one birth certificate but the father is George.

Thank You for taking the time to read this.

Hi! Sue,

Oh! I am so excited, I have been looking to find an Elizabeth with a father John, but there has not been no trace for over 18 months on any of the early census, this now gives me something to work on, the address is in the right area that they could have lived at.
So to work I go now, to see if I can find her birth again, and anything else I may locate.

Thank you so much I am very grateful for the help and time you have given to this for me.
