Hi Jassy

I can only speak for the Province of Ontario. The place of birth is noted, but depending on the year, sometimes the parents are mentioned and of course as long as the person registering the death knows the information.

There are others on here that know about the other Provinces.
Each Province has it's own rules and regulations when it comes to BMD's.

Gandley (but known as Stanley in Canada)- Ireland to Birmingham
Ball, Kempson & Franklin - Birmingham
Shorter - Surrey
Dyer - Devon
Dawkins - Co. Cork, Ireland
Heffernan - Ireland
Huck - Alsace, France
Reinhart - Baden, Germany
Bowman & Ellis - England
Etheridge - Gloucestershire

Who all came to Canada in a little row boat, clap clap, clap your hands!!

Thanks for your reply.I have an elusive great aunt who emigrated to Canada and all I know about her is her date of birth and she married James Torrance.I have searched Scotlands People for marriage, but no luck there,so I now think they might have been married in Canada.I have two death registrations from BCarchives the names match but that is all I have to go on.

Hi Jassy,

What is Margaret's maiden name and what are the dates of birth so we have a timeline.

Hi Karen
Margaret Fleming Findlay b.21 Feb 1892 registered in Parish of Cathcart,County of Renfrew, but when she emigrated she would have been living in Strathaven,Lanarkshire. The death registration has aged 85 so this ties in with her DOB.The death reg.for James Torrance has aged 94.

Thanks

There's a James Torrance, living in Alberta at the time, but b. Strathaven and with his father still living there, signed up for WWI in Canada:

Wasn't married when he signed up; he probably went home on leave, met her there and she came back to Canada with him.
