Help needed
« on: Wednesday 22 March 06 14:39 GMT (UK) »
Is there anyone out there who could help or advise me
please.  My mothers sister, her husband and daughter emigrated to Canada around the mid 1920s. their names..
                        Thomas Blower
Lizzie (or Elizabeth)  Blower nee Gould
                        Rose  Blower
The family came from Birmingham England and settled in
Hamilton Ontario where I think they always lived.  Rose
married but I do not know her married name, or if she
had children , so the family could have died out.  this is a
long shot but maybe someone knows something
        thanks

Hi there,

If you go to http://www.islandnet.com/cgi-bin/ms2/jveinot/search
you will see that Thomas and Elizabeth (Gould) are buried in Woodland Cemetery in Flamborough East.

Would you believe I was just there on Saturday taking pictures of a gravestone for another rootschatter!

Give me a few minutes and I'll see what I can find out.

Hi Karen
Many many thanks for that information I have been trying
for ages to track them down to add to my family tree. There is no one left here to tell me anything about them, I just remember snippets that my mother told me.  It is very unlikely that the daughter Rose would be alive now as she
would be about 96.  I will go on to that web site now and
try to find details of Thomas's medal card, did'nt even know he was in the great war.  I am indebted to you, thanks again               regards Molly

Hi Molly,

Your welcome!  When the lady gets back to me, hopefully the daughter Rose was the informant of her mother's death and it will have her married name and who knows, maybe Rose did have children and they are still around.

Will let you know as soon as I find out.

Hi Molly,

Heard back from the lady at the cemetery with the following information

Name: Thomas Blower
Place of Birth: England
Last Known Address: 39 East Bend Avenue
Age / Status: 58 years / Married
Date of Death: 1950 January 18
Date of Burial: 1950 January 20
Cemetery / Location: Section: 20 Lot: 515 (West Centre Grave)
Next of Kin: Elizabeth Gould (wife)
Funeral Homes / Minister / Religion: Swackhamer / Powell / Anglican

Name: Elizabeth Blower
Place of Birth: England
Last Known Address: 17 Gage Avenue North
Age / Status: 84 years / Widowed
Date of Death: 1975 July 03
Date of Burial: 1975 July 07
Cemetery / Location: Section: 20 Lot: 515 (West Centre Grave)
Next of Kin: Mrs. Rose Rus (daughter)

So, looks like their daughter Rose married a Mr. Rus.  If you go to www.canada411.ca there are 4 listings for Rus in Hamilton.

Hi Karen
Once again thank-you so much for the information you sent
me.  I would never have found this out by myself.  It would
be expecting a bit too much to hope that Rose is still alive
at 92+ but maybe if I get in touch with those four people
I may find out something.  Rus is an unusual name..here..
anyhow I have never heard it before.

my best wishes to you and the lady who
also obtained the information. regards  Molly
