John Gee 1871 &1861 Census
« on: Thursday 07 October 04 01:33 BST (UK) »
In 1881 John Gee (34yrs.) (Butcher) and 2nd wife Fanny(40yrs.) with their family living at 13 Carlton Rd. (Pork Shop) Nottingham St. Mary.
Would be interested to find him and his family on the 1871 census with his first wife Sarah & family.
In 1861 he would not have been married, am wondering if he is living with his parents,he gives his fathers name as William (Butcher) on his mariage cert. to Sarah Lowe in 1868. In 1868 when Annie Gee (My G. Grandmother) was born the address is 7 Carlton Rd.
Thanks for any help and info. given

Hi Smithy, I have sent you 2 census images.
I have also been able to find John and William in some trade directories i have.
John was working as a pork butcher from the early 1880's until the early 1912 when he isn't at Carlton Road but he may have moved to 85 Ilkeston Road in 1913.
I have William in the 1862 Wright's directory working as pork butcher with 2 shops at Carlton Road and Goose Gate.
The information in the directories is usually name, occupation and location.

If you would like the images let me know.

Steve.

Thanks to Mable and Steve Ley for the reply to my query about John Gee and family. Steve I have been able to access the info. re. trade directories so I have that info. thank-you.
I must also thank you for the census that came to me via my e-mail, it was great to get up this morning (Aussie time) and have them here!
Now I would love to know where John Gee is on the 1861 census, perhaps he was away from the family doing his apprenticeship.
This is a great site and everyone is so willing to help with queries.

Thanks once again
