Hi Von,

have just come across your post as I have a very strong interest in the Grindey/Grindy name.

I know you are more interested in finding out about your father but if you ever want to get further back with your Grindey ancestors I would be glad to help. All my Grindey ancestors come from the Ashbourne dist and it looks like yours do too!!!

Charles Frederick Grindey b. 1902 Ashbourne dist vol 7b page 725
Olive Mary Bassett b. 1907 Ashbourne dist vol 7b page 708

Charles Grindey married Olive Bassett 1927 Ashbourne dist 7b  page 1043

 All the best Angela.

Hello Von

I don't know how you've progressed with your search, but I decided to take a sideways look (always best) and found that your father had a brother Alfred B Timmins born September qtr 1922 (checked births from 1920 to 1928). I don't know if anyone can do a lookup on InfoDisk for you as he might still be alive, at least it's another direction to look in.

Mike,

Well done...and good thinking.

If Von wants to PM me I can tell her what I've found on infodisk.

All the best

Hi Von,

I came across your post whilst searching for info on my grandmother Olive Mary Bassett and my grandfather Charles Frederick Grindey.  I never thought I would come across a cousin, but it would seem I have missed you as you haven't logged a post for some years.  If you ever read this, please contact me.

To Anjo,

I relished the info you left for Von and was wondering if you had anything else on Charles Frederick Grindey born 1902.

Looking forward to hearing from both of you.  Fingers crossed.

Clare.

Hi Clare,

I am still not 100% sure on Charles parents but what I DO know is that he is a distant relation of mine.

Charles is living with his Aunt in 1911 and she is my great great grandfathers half sister. My Hunch is that charles is the son of Charles Grindey and Mary Jane Riddle but have no proof of this. (Charles is also a half brother of my great great grandfather). Charles junior (b. 1902) had a brother John Owen Grindey and a sister Margaret Annie Grindey.  (If I have the correct parents)

Please get in touch and let me know what you know about this family would love to know more and if we have the right connection I can fill you in with all I have on this line of Grindey's

Look forward to hearing from you

Angela
