Hello Lyndsey
If you email the records office with John's details they will do a search for you:
recordoffice@warwickshire.gov.uk
Send me a pm with your email address and I'll send burial details(excel) You will often get qualifying details such as son of;wife of etc.this will help you later.
My advice is get organised, have a definite plan of who you are looking for and when and take all the info.that you have.Be aware of surrounding parishes as you may have to look there also.
Regards Jim

Had a search around and found these:
Birth:John Lenton b.1816/d.1846/ Sowe(no father's name)
Marr:William Lenton=Elizabeth Everton/22/11/1813/Walsgrave on Sowe
Birth:William Lenton/29/1/1792/Fa.William/Ma.Mary Buckingham/St.Laurence.
There are also Lentons in Walsgrave on Sowe(2mls.) and Bedworth(4mls.away)

Thank you Jim and Lemontree for your replies.

Jim, alas this is not 'my John'. Although the name, birth date  and area match, 'my John' died in the Oct/Dec quarter of 1890 in Shoreditch.

Both John and Mary were Weavers who sometime in between 1856 and 1860 moved down to East End  of London. I believe this to be because of the decline of the weaving industry in the Coventry area at that time. I have done some reading up on the area and there was actually a weavers strike in Foleshill in 1860! They had five children by the time of their move and their other three children were born in the Shoreditch area (one of whom was my Gt Grandfather).

I have come across the names William Lenton/Elizabeth Everton and William Lenton/Mary Buckingham on the IGI site, which is presumably where you found them. I printed their details out and have them filed as 'possible' matches for John's parents, although how I would set about proving a link I don't know!

I will send you a pm with my e-mail address for the burial records.

Many thanks again
