Tuffnell family
« on: Sunday 26 March 06 16:47 BST (UK) »
Hi
I was wondering if anyone is able to help me with census lookup.
I'm seeking information regarding a William Tuffnell and his wife Maria and their children, the only information I have todate is as follows: William Tuffnell married Maria Wilding 28/12/1835 St Wilfrid Davenham had daughter Elizabeth 1837 Newton Heath Lanc's, son James 1840 Tattenhall. In 1851 they were living at Snow Hill, Sutton, Macclesfield. I would like to know where they were at time of the 1841/1861/1871 census and also where can I get a married cert for them so I can find out their parents.
I would appreciate any help and thank you in advance. :)

Hi,
In 1871 I found a Maria Tuffnell living at 27 West St Sutton Macclesfield born Cheshire Barton age 79 widow. (Transcribed as Tuffwell)
On Cheshire BMD there is a death for a Maria Tufnell age 72 in 1872 Northwich?
and a death for a William Tufnall age 59 West Macclesfield

In 1871 RG10/1165  Folio 132 page 4
14 George St Ryde Hampshire

James Tuffnell age 31 born Tallnall Cheshire Tramway Porter
Emily Jane wife age 28 born Isle of Wight Northwood
Frederic Temple Tuffnell age 2 b IW Ryde
Edward Lawrence age 6 weeks b IW Ryde

Hope this helps

Hi allan
I have been through 1841 Tattenhall but can't find them...however I am wracking my brains as I saw a Tuffnell family on the 1841 'somewhere' only the other day whilst looking for somebody else.  I noticed them as I immediately thought of Phil Tuffnell the cricketer.  If only I could remember which village it was  ???

I will go back through my notes and try to find them for you.  The only trouble with 1841 is there is no surname index, so you have to literally go through each census page by page.

Kind regards
