Brummies Beware!

Well, I have had a couple of good laughs today with my 1861 census transcription for Birmingham.

I came across a Joseph Roiley and his lovely family. I would bet a pound to a penny that it's Joe Riley...but with that lovely Brum accent he got enumerated as Roiley! The rules of transcirption are that we transcribe what is enumerated...sooooo...if you have Riley's in Brum...you might want to search for Roileys!

On the following page are the Smith family. He is described as a Boot Maker and his wife is a Baby maker! I wonder who in the family had the sense of humour!
