Hi
William Bearman is my holy grail. So far he exists only on his sons marriage certificate - grooms father - William Bearman - occupation Shoemaker.
The son William Bearman was born c 1815, on the 1861 census his birthplace is given as Barking, Essex. The son marries Jane Pine in 1842 at Stoke Damarel Devon, in 1843 they have a child in Devon,in 1844 they have a child in Southsea, Hants. In 1859 they are back in Devon for the birth of another son. In 1851 they are on the census in Taunton Somerset, where they have another child, in 1861 they are on the Census in Greenwich, Kent where they have three more children.
I don't have either William in 1841. William Junior is also listed as a shoemaker on his marriage certificate, but at other times he is a marine and a sick attendant at the Royal Hospital Greenwich.
Can anyone find either William especially older one on 1841. I don't have a date for his birth but am assuming 1780's. The year before the marriage of his son it is likley he is still a shoemaker. Have asked for lookup on 1841 on the Essex board to no avail, maybe they were in Devon, the year before the wedding in Stoke Damarel in 1842.
I know it's a tangled web. I'd love to be able to pin William and Dad down.
